Origin
From farm to cup: how we trade directly
We buy around two thirds of our green coffee directly from farms in Colombia, Ethiopia and Guatemala. Marco Bianchi, our buyer, visits them every year at harvest time.
Why direct?
If you know the farm, you know how the coffee is grown, picked and processed. We taste samples on site, talk about the harvest and agree the price together – often for several years ahead.
What it means for the price
We pay well above the world market price. In return we get quality we can rely on – and the growers get security to plan.
Traceable to the farm
Our rare coffees name not just the country but the farm and the altitude at which the coffee grew.
Tip
From the roastery
Coffee cherries do not ripen all at once, so good farms pick by hand several times.
